Worship

Updated: Dec 7, 2021

Moses is unaware at this point that he is about to receive from God the very Law which the people of God are going to violate and be judged. Still, Moses responds to God’s invitation to worship Him and the whole world was blessed as a result.

1. God offers His people an opportunity to worship Him corporately.

Ex. 24:1-8 “And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.”

2. God offers His people an opportunity to worship Him personally.

“And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.”

3. We must share with others what we have learned from our time with the Lord.

“And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments:”

4. Some will make superficial decisions to yield to your teaching.

“and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.”

5. Obedience without the blood of Christ becomes nothing more than religious ritual.

“And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD. And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.”

6. The shed blood of Christ must become a personal matter in order for a life to be truly changed.

“And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.”

LESSON - Every opportunity we have to worship God, both corporately and personally, is an opportunity to fellowship with God and receive from Him the life-changing word others need. What you receive is never for your personal edification alone. Until you share it with others, you do not fulfill the purpose for which you spent time with the Lord. Do not focus upon the response of others to determine your success. Focus on the task alone and let God bring the increase.
