In Joshua chapter 3, God tells Joshua to prepare the people for a miracle that He was going to perform. God also reveals the many reasons for performing this miracle. From this simple explanation, we can apply the many ways God has moved in the past to our lives today. He works in miraculous ways:
1. To guide us.
V4 “that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.”
2. To encourage us to sanctify (purify) ourselves.
V5 “And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.”
3. To remind us that He never changes.
V7 “And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.”
4. To remind us that He is always with us.
V10 “And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.”
LESSON - For too many Believers, they think that they are not experiencing God’s power at work in their lives because they simply are not looking for it. Because of sin and the hardness of their hearts, they lack the discernment to see God moving on their behalf. Seek the Lord’s guidance through His word. Choose to live a holy separated life. Remember that God is always with you and that He never changes. Reflect upon these things on a regular basis and you will see the power of God at work in your life. Then you will begin to realize that He has been at work in your life all along!
